Preacher Apollo Quiboloy, Recently Arrested, Files Candidacy for Philippine Senator
MANILA, Philippines — Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, who is currently facing multiple criminal charges, has filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for senator in the 2025 elections, according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Tuesday.
Comelec spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco confirmed that Quiboloy’s COC was submitted by his legal counsel, Mark Tolentino, through an authorized representative.
"Since it was filed through an authorized representative, his COC was accepted," Laudiangco explained in Filipino during an interview.
Quiboloy is currently facing child abuse and human trafficking charges in the Davao City and Pasig City courts. He is also dealing with several criminal cases in the United States, including allegations of conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking, sex trafficking of minors, sex trafficking by force, fraud, and coercion, as well as conspiracy and bulk cash smuggling.
